His Exc. M. Julien V. Brunie visits the « Shems’y Village » in Amizmiz built for the children orphaned by the 2023 earthquake in the Marrakech region, which the Order supports in a very important way.
This wonderful project initiated by the AMESIP association will welcome in the summer 2024, 144 children who became orphans after the terrible earthquake that tragically occurred on September 8th, 2023.
The Ambassador was welcomed by the local authorities, the Mayor of the City but also by Mrs Touraya Jaïdi Bouabid, President of AMESIP.
The visit allowed us to discuss reception conditions and to consider the best for these children.
The site will be equipped with comfortable dormitories, play and catering areas, sports fields and will be open to the village of Amizmiz. Academic support and extracurricular activity rooms are provided with high quality equipment.
Sophie de Puyraimond, Minister Counselor, visits regularly the project and actively participates in monitoring building and operations.
The Sovereign Order of Malta with its NGO Malteser International is the main financial partner of this important project for its development and equipment.
It is a great pride for the Order and for the Embassy in Morocco.
