The Ambassador to Morocco offered a reception on the occasion of the Feast of the Patron Saint of the Order at the residence of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Rabat.
The ceremony took place in the presence of His Eminence Rev Cardinal Lopez-Romero, Archbishop of Rabat and the Apostolic Nuncio but also of more than 45 Ambassadors from all continents and all regions.
Many personalities from the political, institutional and economic world were present.
His Excellency Mr. Youness Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, represented the Government of the Kingdom.
The Ambassador recalled the ancient history of the Order and its more direct history with the Kingdom.
His Excellency Julien Brunie also informed the prestigious assembly of the numerous activities of the Order in Morocco in the charism of “Obsequium Pauperum”.
In Morocco the Sovereign Order is particularly active in the fields of: ophthalmology, dermatological diseases, burned children, help for mothers and children in difficulty, pain in hospitalized children and neonatology.
The center, created in 2022 in Midelt, is growing and welcomes 24 children in rehabilitation and with severe disabilities.
Launched in 2023, a 4-year plan for the deployment of incubators -the first phase of which was co-financed by the Republic of Korea- enabled the donation of 46 incubators offered in the cities of Fez, Meknes, Sefrou, Azrou, Midlet, Taza, Rabat, Tetouan, El Jadida and Khemisset.
Another crucial project was mentioned – and makes the great pride of the Order of Malta and Malteser International – the financing of the entire interior design of a magnificent village located in Amizmiz which will welcome 144 children orphans after the terrible earthquake in the Marrakech region.

The Sovereign Order of Malta has gone through 900 years of history faithful to wonderful values, he praised the work on the ground of the Order which is striking and speaking, he underlined the importance of the tradition of doing good without any distinction between human beeing. The Minister and the Ambassador praised the excellent relations between the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Kingdom of Morocco.
