On September 8th, 2023, a major earthquake shook the Al Haouz Province, south of Marrakesh, killing thousands of people and leaving the region totally devastated.

From the very first days the Order, through the Embassy, and with the support of Malteser International, intervened on the ground, and quickly decided to participate in the construction and equipment of a living place for the orphans of Amizizmiz.

Eleven months later the Shems’y village opened its doors, and today it provides comprehensive care for 144 children aged 5 to 18.
