The 2026 edition of the Toumliline International Gathering, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, marks the 70th anniversary of an historic event dedicated to intercultural and interfaith dialogue. Centered on the theme “Commemorating to anchor Otherness,” this edition highlights the role of memory in fostering tolerance, diversity, and social cohesion.

André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King, emphasized that Morocco draws upon its history and diversity to build an exemplary model of dialogue and openness, a model of which Toumliline remains a living symbol. Speaking on behalf of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Morocco, Minister-Counselor Sophie de Puyraimond noted the forty years of diplomatic relations between the Order and the Kingdom, and commended the Order’s support for the restoration of the chapel and library of Toumliline monastery, a significant site of spirituality and fraternity.

Discussions also underscored that preserving this memory serves as a bulwark against insular identity politics and hate speech, stressing the importance of passing this legacy on to new generations and keeping it alive through cultural, academic, and heritage-focused initiatives.
